I was looking for some shelter when I happened upon a sign
And you gave me half an hour of your pre-recorded time
And I took it as a cryptic message from my mind
You can say that I'm ecstatic but the ecstasy is just passing me by
And I stood there, alone, laughing at the sky

Fodder is the canon of the virtues that you preach
I had to look away, no, I just couldn't watch you speak
Hotter come the words now and I am partial to the heat
So fire me right now before our temperatures increase
Now I could be the shoulder upon which you could cry

It's the only thing around here that's still keeping me alive

I was looking for safety and it brought me boredom
I was just looking for some comfort and it brought me stagnation
And what I needed was some justice for the hand that I'd been dealt
But just is not the way in which the universe conducts itself
It was in poverty that I found wealth
